NDIS providers aren’t like other businesses.
Running an NDIS provider means managing three different funding streams at once — NDIA-managed, plan-managed and self-managed — each with its own billing process, payment timeframe and risk profile. Claims must match exact support item numbers from the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits, which the NDIA updates every year. Get the code wrong, or miss the claiming window, and that revenue can be lost entirely. Add SCHADS Award payroll complexities, NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission audit requirements, and the ongoing challenge of knowing which services are actually profitable — and it’s easy to see why generalist accounting isn’t built for this sector.
