Peter Shields

Managing Partner – Audit and Assurance

Peter commenced with Saward Dawson in 1999 to lead the Audit Division and was admitted as a partner in 2000. During Peter’s time at Saward Dawson, the audit and assurance division has focussed on the delivery of high quality audit and providing value to clients through our experience, insight and passion. Prior to joining Saward Dawson, Peter was a senior manager a multinational firm, working in audit, M&A, consulting and the business advisory division in Australia and the USA.

Peter has many years of experience working in various capacities with commercial and non-profit organisations. Peter sits on the ACNC professional advisor group, is a regular contributor to the Australian Accounting Standard Board, Chartered Accountants Australian and New Zealand, is the current chair of the Australian Not for Profits Accountant Network, and chairs the CA ANZ Not for profit discussion group.

Peter has a real passion for training and mentoring and leads our staff training and recruiting activities.

Interests

Gym, renovating, gardening, cycling, jet skiing, surfing, wakeboarding and snowboarding

Peter loves spending time with his family, staying active and being outside whenever possible. He loves to travel and visiting family and friends around the world.

Favourite Holiday Destination:

It would be a longs list but a few favourites: Noosa – the chance to relax with his family and possibly catch a wave. For a weekend outside Melbourne, Philip Island is a regular destination. Overseas – California – the coast, desert and mountains, Japan trips with his boys, Europe visiting family and friends.
