Laziness can be expensive

I recently realised how my much procrastination in reviewing my electricity and gas suppliers had cost.

When I finally got around to getting some competitive quotes, I found I was able to save between 21% and 31% on my accounts (the actual savings will depend on the fixed supply charges and variable usage charges on your account). Generally, the utility companies are happy to continue charging you on your current rate and are not proactive in offering you the discounts that are available. So if you are going to keep your charges down, you need to take the initiative.

I suggest that if you get an opportunity, review your electricity, gas, phone and internet charges and see what savings are available. It may even be as simple as phoning your current supplier and letting them know you will be getting a comparative cost and see what discounts they can offer.

When we review a client’s financial goals and assist them in setting a plan to achieve their goals, we look at both the debit and the credit side of the ledger; costs and income. Pruning your costs is a great way to help you achieve your financial goals.
