Who can do an audit?
At Saward Dawson, all audits are undertaken by registered company auditors. Most statutory audits require a registered company auditor to undertake the work. Statutory audits include audits of public companies including companies limited by guarantee (CLG), large private companies, large incorporated associations (depending on the requirements in each state) and large charities.A registered company auditor is required to be a member of one of the professional bodies and have significant expertise and experience in audit engagements. The registration of company auditors is overseen by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).Certain non-statutory audits can sometimes be undertaken by a member of one of the professional accounting bodies, or other reduced criteria.Audit Guide – An overview of Audit
