As part of Treasury’s forward budgeting released with the 2015 Federal Budget, the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission (ACNC) has been funded until 30 June 2019.

However, this funding comes with one major qualifier, that the ACNC will only continue to operate in its current form whilst the ACNC Act remains in effect, meaning that if the repeal legislation is passed, the regulator would no longer exist.

The Assistant Treasurer, Josh Frydenberg confirmed in April 2015 that it is not a priority for the current government to proceed with abolishing the ACNC.
